Background
As young as five years old mom witnessed my passion for singing and dancing. As we had 101.1 CBS F.M on our radio, I would use my thumb as a microphone to sing every song. A few years later when mom found out the talent show, Star Search was having auditions for talented kids, she wasted no time trying to find out how to apply for the auditions. I was 12 years old and already had a fan club. Mommy made sure our neighborhood was in my corner, hoping I was invited to the auditions. After my mother sent a video of me singing and dancing, we were invited to audition in California. Two weeks before the audition, I was diagnosed with an adult-size medulla-blastoma brain tumor. My dream was dashed, and I didn't know it yet, but I was unknowingly drafted as a soldier of cancer, in training.
Mission
Although cancer was in full force, so were my dedicated family members. I wasted no time finding out exactly how cancer operates. Unfortunately for me, there was only one way to be trained. It consisted of many obstacles and hardships. Cancer is a child's nightmare. It also breaks the hearts of many parents and family members that are witnesses to the suffering of their loved ones. Reaching remission is a common goal in every 'cancer family'. I decided to do more than that. I let cancer know it made a terrible mistake when it invaded me. Now it's time to turn the tables on cancer, and this soldier seeks out to do just that. Read on about my story, so you as well as many others who have cancer, could over-ride the torment one endures with cancer. It's time to say, "ENOUGH."
